Miami Waterkeeper achieved transformative victories in 2026, most notably forcing the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to withdraw its permit for the Port Everglades dredging project after mobilizing over 34,000 community supporters. The organization's comprehensive water quality monitoring program expanded to over 30 sites across Miami-Dade and Broward counties, with results viewed 159,000+ times through their Swim Guide platform. Through sustained advocacy, they secured federal court protections for Florida's wetlands and successfully stopped harmful legislation threatening Miami's Urban Development Boundary. Community engagement reached unprecedented levels with 6,091 people participating in water protection activities, including 326 volunteers who removed 879 pounds of marine debris during their 10th microplastics cleanup celebration.
