FAQs for Nonprofits

Common questions from nonprofit organizations using Daffodil

About Donors

Q: Where are my year to date donations? Where are total donations?

A: The Grants page in the Nonprofit app will show all the details of funds received via Daffodil.

Q: Who are my donors?

A: If a donor has given directly to a nonprofit and chosen to share their name, information is available within the app. Otherwise, donations from Daffodil's Discovery Fund are from the Daffodil network and not attributed to a single donor.

Q: How to contact donors?

A: If a donor has opted to share their contact information, you can find their contact details within the app. Please know that regardless of shared contact information, any supporter is receiving regular impact updates about your organization via Daffodil.

Q: How to send a receipt to Daffodil donors?

A: It is not necessary to send a receipt to donors. Donors have already received their receipt.

Impact Methodology

Q: How do you measure nonprofit impact?

A: We elevate nonprofits that participate in Daffodil's data collection and provide quality data. An actual "impact score" is not assessed - that is up to donors to determine based on their preferences. Organizations that provide more comprehensive impact data receive higher visibility and potentially more Discovery Fund allocations from matched donors.

Fees & Costs

Q: Does Daffodil charge for Nonprofit App access?

A: Our core platform for nonprofits is free to use.

Q: Are there fees on donations processed by Daffodil?

A: Nonprofits do not pay fees to receive donations. All fees are described on our fee schedule page.

Q: How is my organization's cause area determined?

A: This field is automatically populated using your organization's NTEE code. Your NTEE code is on record with the IRS and is part of their Master Business File for Exempt Organizations. You can update your cause area in your organization profile.

Q: Can I add team members to my Daffodil account?

A: Yes, you can add team members to your account from the Team page.

Impact Tracking & Reporting

Q: How do I share impact updates with donors?

A: Visit the Impact page to add impact updates, progress reports, and stories about your work. These updates are automatically shared with your Daffodil donors and supporters.

Q: What is the Impact page?

A: The Impact page is where you manage and share your organization's impact data, including progress reports, impact blocks, and stories. This information helps donors see the real-world outcomes of their support.

Q: How often should I report impact?

A: We recommend updating your impact data quarterly or whenever you have significant milestones to share. Regular updates help maintain donor engagement and can lead to increased Discovery Fund allocations.

Q: What types of impact data should I share?

A: Share measurable outcomes (people served, programs delivered), success stories, photos or videos of your work, and progress toward your goals. Focus on demonstrating real-world impact rather than activities.

Payouts & Banking

Q: How do I set up my bank account for payouts?

A: Go to the Payouts page to connect your bank account. You'll need your routing number and account number. We use secure banking partners to ensure safe transfers.

Q: When will I receive grant funds?

A: Once a grant is approved and your bank account is verified, funds are typically transferred within 3-5 business days. You can track pending and completed payouts on your Payouts page.
