Impact Enablement for Nonprofits

A grant fee is paid to Daffodil Charitable only when a grant is successfully completed, and is used for Impact Enablement.

Impact Enablement is a set of capabilities that perform several benefits to nonprofits, such as:

  1. 1) Automating the collection and processing of public and private impact data
  2. 2) Subsidizing access to Daffodil features for nonprofits
  3. 3) Providing impact visibility through generated artifacts, personalized for nonprofits, donors, and advisors

Most DAFs charge little to no granting fees, but provide no impact enablement for nonprofits or visibility after the grant is made.

Administration Fees (Zero)

Daffodil Charitable charges zero administration fees for assets under management (AUM).

Investment Fees (Optional, paid to external parties)

Investing is optional. Investment fees vary, and are levied by parties external to Daffodil Charitable that offer investment opportunities and services for funds.

Cash balances earn interest in money market funds, and are not charged investment fees.

One-time Grants

One-time grants are submitted through Compass's Give Now feature. The grant is considered a recommendation immediately queued for review. If the nonprofit recipient is already a verified organization, the grant is processed within 1 business day.

  • Optional granting fee for Impact Enablement
  • $50 minimum grant

Example: Tom wants to make a $1000 grant out of his Giving Fund to a local charity. He submits the grant recommendation using Give Now, and it is queued for processing.

Planned Grants (Optional)

Recurring Grants are monthly contributions to specific nonprofits selected by the donor. Configured in Compass's Giving Plan feature, donors set a specific amount for each nonprofit they want to support. You can add, remove, or adjust amounts for your recurring grants at any time.

  • 5% granting fee for Impact Enablement
  • $30 per nonprofit per month minimum grant

Example: Tom sets up recurring grants of $50/month each to Nonprofit A, Nonprofit B, and Nonprofit C. He also allocates $100/month to the Discovery Fund. Tom receives structured impact data reporting and can adjust or cancel any of his recurring grants at any time.

Discovery Fund (Optional)

The Discovery Fund is a charitable pool used to discover new nonprofits. Donors set a specific monthly amount for their Discovery Fund contribution, which is optional and can be disabled at any time.

The Discovery Fund powers matchmaking and provides discoverability for donors who want to learn about giving opportunities. Daffodil's network contains verified and participating nonprofits of all different sizes and mission areas from across the United States, matched according to the donor's priorities, cause areas, and geographic preferences.

  • 5% granting fee for Impact Enablement
  • $0 ($50 per month recommended) minimum

Example: Jane selects animal welfare (cause area) and Colorado (geographic area) as her charitable priorities. She sets her Discovery Fund amount to $100/month. Every month, her $100 gift is distributed to Daffodil's network of high-impact animal welfare nonprofits in Colorado. She receives regular impact data showing the results of her investment and learns about organizations she would not have known about otherwise.
